When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children.

  • Can you get a massage during the first trimester of your pregnancy?
Absolutely! During the first trimester, it is perfectly okay to get a massage. Certain modalities may not be recommended during this stage but there are different ways to address concerns. A certified prenatal massage therapist is trained to provide a safe tension relieving massage.
  • How soon after having my baby can I get a massage?
In many Eastern cultures, massaging mom just a few hours after delivery is quite common, although it’s often not promoted as an option in Western cultures. Ultimately, you can get a massage as soon as you feel ready, as long as you didn’t have a C-section.
  • What are the benefits of massage during pregnancy?
Pregnancy brings on change within your body relatively fast. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Massage helps with encouraging circulation, relaxation, promotes better sleep, and may help ease labor pains as you approach your due date.
  • Can you get deep tissue massages during pregnancy?
Yes! You can definitely get deep tissue work done during pregnancy. Certified prenatal massage therapists are trained in the contraindications to provide a safe and effective treatment session for you.
  • I’ve been feeling a lot of hip pains and shooting pains down my legs. Can massage therapy help?
Yup! It’s a pain in the butt to have to deal with that but it happens towards the end of your pregnancy. While it is normal, there are many ways massage therapy can provide some relief.
  • What is a doula?
A doula is a non-medical professional who provides you with physical and emotional support, along with information to help you achieve your desired birth goals.
  • Can I have a doula if I am having a C-section?
Yes, you can! A doula can support you before, during (depending on your hospital’s policy), and after your procedure. A doula can also provide great postpartum support to help you recover after a C-section.
  • How early should I get a doula?
As early as possible! The earlier you reach out to us during your pregnancy, the better we are able to assist you and provide our services.
  • How late can I hire a doula?
In extreme cases, you can hire a doula a day before your birth, but ideally no later than a week before your due date.
  • What can a doula do for me?
A doula can help you outline your preferences, ideals, and desires for your birth experience. We can also help you to advocate for yourself and, in certain situations, advocate for you if there are things you feel uncomfortable with during your birth. We can also help you in recovery postpartum. We can provide education in the various aspects of birth we are trained in and guide you towards resources to help you better prepare for your birth. All in all, we are there to provide support in whatever capacity you may need to the best of our abilities.
  • What are some things a doula cannot do for me?
We do not diagnose! Remember, we are non-medical professionals and such are not allowed to diagnose you with anything. If we do happen to notice a medical concern while working with you, we would inform you about it with the suggestion to bring up the concern to your doctor.
